Energys Welcomes Malaysian Delegation to Mulgrave Headquarters

Energys was honoured to host a high-level delegation from Malaysia at our Mulgrave head office and manufacturing facility. The delegation included distinguished guests such as the Malaysian Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, The Hon Minister Chang Lih Kang, His Excellency Muhammad Nik Nasyron Syah, Counsel General of Malaysia in Melbourne, NanoMalaysia Berhad’s CEO Dr. Rezal Ahmad, and Chair Prof. Emeritus Dr. M Zawawi Ismail, Noraisyah Nordin, Director of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, and Fauzana Binti Abdul Muhi, Principal Assistant Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation Malaysia.

The visit began with a warm welcome from Energys Chairman Michael Wilkinson, who opened the proceedings. Energys Founder and Vice President Noel Dunlop then delivered a detailed briefing, highlighting Energys' significant advancements in Hydrogen Fuel Cell Generators and other hydrogen projects. The discussion included insights into Malaysia's priorities for the hydrogen industry in South East Asia, with an emphasis on fostering collaboration between Energys and Malaysian stakeholders.

Representing Energys were key team members Ben Durrant, Communications Advisor, Sam Pern-Rowe, Engineering Manager, and Joe Varga, Chief Science Officer. The briefing showcased several of Energys' capabilities, particularly the recent commissioning of five hydrogen fuel cell generators for Telstra, a major telecommunications provider.

Following the briefing, the delegation toured the manufacturing facility, where they observed Hydrogen Fuel Cell Engines and Fuel Cell Generators at various stages of construction. The highlight of the tour was an interactive live demonstration of a functioning 12kW single-phase AC Hydrogen Generator, akin to those providing backup power to Telstra telecommunications towers. Demonstrating the generator's simplicity of use, Minister Chang activated the generator himself, impressing the delegation with its user-friendly design and efficiency.

The delegation expressed keen interest in Energys' Marine Fuel Cell capability and product range. Given Malaysia's maritime significance and proximity to the ports of Singapore, which aims to decarbonise its ports by 2030, the potential for zero-emission solutions is critical. Malaysian vessels, like others, will face increasing financial penalties for emissions in Singapore, making the exploration of hydrogen fuel cell technology highly relevant.

The tour concluded with a strong commitment from both Energys and the Malaysian Government to continue the dialogue and explore collaborative opportunities. This engagement aligns with Energys' longstanding focus on international markets, including Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia. The collaboration with the Malaysian Government marks a strategic step in reinforcing our presence and influence in the global hydrogen fuel cell market.
